The Aiyegbusi family has stayed a total of 142 nights at RMHC Alberta, when both their eldest, Iyo, and youngest, Oyin, were born prematurely. For parents Titi & Femi, staying at the Ronald McDonald House enabled them to be strong so they could support their babies in hospital, while reducing their stress by allowing them to stay together as a family.
“The House served a really important function keeping our family together as much as possible, because there was really no other way we could have been together in one place – without stress,” Titi says.
Looking back on the experience, the House was really the one thing that gave us hope, gave us comfort, and gave us the ability to cope.
Titi & Femi spent their first holidays as new parents at the Ronald McDonald House. “People working at the House, whether staff or volunteers, knew that it was worthwhile to try to put some light and brightness into people’s lives,” Femi says. “That spoke volumes to us.”
