Calgary House is one of the largest Ronald McDonald Houses® in the world, offering 91 family suites designed to keep families close to care at Alberta Children’s Hospital and nearby hospitals, including Foothills Medical Centre. Expanded in 2025, it provides space for families to rest, maintain routines, and stay together during short- or long-term stays. Shared amenities, including a commercial kitchen and daily meal support led by a dedicated executive chef, bring comfort and consistency to each day, while the Magic Room and Calgary Flames Teen Room create moments of play, connection, and hope.
Step 1: Referral
Families with a child receiving medical treatment at any Calgary hospital should contact a hospital social worker or a member of the child’s medical team for a referral.
Step 2: Check availability
When you receive a referral, you will be placed on the room request list. All families will be contacted a few days before their requested date to confirm availability.
Please note that due to the unexpected nature of hospital stays, we often cannot guarantee a room until the day of the stay. Please contact our Family Services team at 403-240-3000. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week.
Step 3: Check in
Once a room becomes available, our Family Services team will contact you to schedule a time to check in. Please note that check-in times are between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Once checked in, our Family Services team will provide you with a tour of the House and answer any questions.
